Q: Who is Ahab Marine Services?

A: Ahab Marine Services is a TA (Trading As) division of a chapter S corporation run by:

MRSA, ABYC standards certified, system certified, and corrosion certified; a master ABYC Technician.

C: David Reed has many years of boating experience dating all the way back to the 1950's. His first involvement with boating began with his grandfather who was a tug boat captain in Pittsburgh. David has vast experience in vessel hardware chandlery and has sailed and motored numerous inland lakes and rivers, which consist of Chesapeake and Delaware Bays. He has also sailed the coast from South Carolina to Rhode Island. He has also made several vessel deliveries serving as the Watch Captain. David has also delivered and conducted training sessions with vessel owners, including basic vessel operation, maintenance, made-over-board operation, and navigation skills. He has raced sail boats, both round-the-buoys and long distance, serving as Navigator, Tactician, Crew Chief, Helmsman, and Watch Captain. David is a member of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors with the designation of Surveyor Associate (SA); the International Association of Marine Investigators, and the ABYC (Marine Systems Certified)

Q: What is condition and value survey?

A: Condition and Value survey is a survey that describes the condition of the vessel, showing things that need correcting,
laws or standards that it does not meet and its estimated fair market value. This should involve a thorough inspection,
operation of all equipment and a sea trial.

Q:Of what use is a condition and value survey?

A: Condition and Value survey is invaluable in helping decide whether a boat is a good purchase or not.
Whether the boat is what you really desire. It is also very useful to get the boat insured and get a loan for the boat.

Q:Who is Captain Ed Hatch?

A: Captain Ed Hatch has been in the boat business for decades. He was the MORC National Measurer inspecting hundreds of boats
for compliance with structual and saftey specifications. He was on the MORC National Rule committee helping develop standards for
safe and fair cruising with boat racing and cruising. He was on the National Electronics Manufacturers Association/ANSI Standards
Committee for batteries. His navigation experience is primarily the East Coast of the United States and its tributaries, but includesoffshore and both coasts. His experience with boat types includes wood, fiberglass, reinforced plastic, ferro/concrete, and aluminum
both power and sail. He is also a member of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors - AMS #855, Chesapeake Area
Professional Captains Association, International Association of Marine Investigators, National Fire Prevention Association,
American Boat and Yacht Council, Magothy River Sailing Assoc. and the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association. ABYC standards certified,
systems certified and corrosion certified... a Master ABYC Technician. Trained in accident/damage inspection, boat electrical analysis, etc.
